In 2017, Life threw our family a curve ball and we moved to the State of Washington. After re-evaluating a life that wasn't working for us, we decided to defy the two-parent working role. We moved closer to my husband's employer and I resigned from a government job. We began the scary adventure of discovering what our little family was capable of without the comfort of everything we knew back home. Washington was very much a healing place. It allowed me to exhale for the first time in life and evaluate what truly made my soul sing. If there was ever a place to do it, Washington was it!
I was surrounded by the breathtaking backdrop of Mt Rainer, the boats bobbing up and down in the harbor and the sultry backdrop of the blue grey skies against the evergreen landscape. . .. Wow! AND when I tell you that driving through town was like driving through a Better Homes and Garden magazine, I was living a beautiful dream day after day! It taught me that the landscaping and pruning in Washington was done differently than the good ol' Midwest. Not necessarily different species of landscape, but how they pruned them to fit the landscape. It gave me new eyes on everything and forever changed the way I think about plant culture and how traditional methods can be pushed outside the box.
Fast forward moving back to the Midwest, I set out to be a vegetable farmer. Yep, you read that right. And. . . . . after failing miserably at it, and discovering later that it was a bad batch of compost, it brought me to the realization that it was always about the flowers. I took a huge step in the opposite direction and was met with that full circle moment of realizing my dreams. The dots were finally connected and I landed on the destination that I was always meant for. . . .
The rest becomes beautiful history.
I have an innate love for the natural world. Who knew there was a name for it-Biophelia! Being so close to nature feels like it buzzes in my DNA and this is what drives this little passion project of mine. Every part of the process on the farm is done to keep a harmonious balance among nature. You will never find me using pesticides, herbicides, or synthetic fertilizers.
To be honest, I do not have a degree in horticulture, or a certificate in floriculture. I have substituted a classroom setting for real life instruction on my micro-farm and I tend to geek out on finding natural fixes to any problems that arise. I have always been very intuitive and would consider myself an obsessive observer of the world around me. My heart has always fluttered the most when I am surrounded by flowers, leading me to know that I am in the right place in life.
And... because I have a keen eye and an exceptional ability to observe down to the most minuscule detail, it gives me a rare ability to always be hyper aware of my surroundings. I used to think this was a flaw in my personality but have come to realize that I should embrace it, thank you INFJ personality (wink wink). All of this to say that I can assure that you will be provided with a flower experience that is truly one of a kind!!
With all of the grand visions that I have for this business, I try to keep a heart-centered approach. At my core, I will always want to give, give, give. Especially when it comes to cancer patients, the aging, and the disability community. A big part of each season will be coming up with ideas in how I can make this population smile!
I also have big love for the small business owner. I plan to network and collaborate with several small businesses to highlight their awesomeness throughout the season so stay tuned because it's going to be so much fun showcasing all of the great things within our communities.
I have been bursting at the seams to let my creativity shine.....it's been bottled up for way too long . As I am starting to unravel some of it, I am realizing that this is going to be a fun era of life to finally release it all! Be ready to be taken on a wild ride. . . . after all, your heart led you here for a reason! There are going to be so many fun upcoming opportunities to be a part of. . . . . .and trust me when I tell you that it is going to be an unforgettable experience, so stick around!
Meet my business partner and personal friend, Megan Martin, owner of https://conquerconsulting.com. If it wasn't for her complete faith in my vision, I would not be standing here before you wearing my heart on my sleeve. Remember me telling you about my grand visions? Well, sometimes this gal has too many crazy ideas and thoughts all at once and can't get them sorted out. Megan has been there from the beginning, cheering me on, pumping me full of confidence, and sorting out my crazy and dishing it back to me in a well organized manner. She is the ENFJ to my INFJ, and what a beautiful combination it makes!
We cannot wait to show you this duo in action, its going to be truly remarkable!
